Dear Holy Trinity Family,
I want to provide you with an update of decisions that our Club has made in response to handling the COVID-19 pandemic.
These are unchartered waters that we as a community are currently going through, and these unprecedented events in our lifetime unfortunately still have a while to run. There’s a likelihood that events will get worse before they get better, and it is with that in mind that we must take strong and decisive action.
As a Club and as a community, it is our duty and our responsibility to play our part in participating in and leading the way in taking reasonable measures to slow the impact that COVID-19 is having on our families and the world.
I want to assure each and every one of you that these decisions have been made with the best interests of the health and safety of our community at the forefront of our minds, however none of these decisions were taken easily or lightly.
The Committee have been working overtime and have been in constant contact with the Association, Cricket Victoria and Government departments to provide the most up to date information and recommendations possible to you, and this will continue to occur as the situation continues to evolve at a rapid pace.
At the time of writing, there are currently 4 events that involved the Club that were scheduled for the rest of the season. The Club Executive Committee have met and discussed, and an update on each of these events is found below.
- Junior Presentation Night – The Club has made the unfortunate decision to cancel the Junior Presentation Night that was scheduled for this Friday 20th Further details about alternative arrangements will be released shortly.
Further, the NMCA Junior Presentation Night has been cancelled pending further notice, and the ECA Junior Presentation Night has been postponed until May at the earliest.
- Jack Kelly Shield Grand Final – The Club this Saturday and Sunday was scheduled to host the Jack Kelly Shield Grand Final. This game is currently going ahead.
However, these games were to be hosted under compromised and modified conditions. As such, the Club has made the decision that with many of our volunteers who will be involved in helping over the weekend are those that are more at risk of contracting COVID-19. As such, the Club has decided to withdraw from hosting this match. This obviously comes as a disappointment however the health and safety of our members and community is at the forefront of all decision making, hence the Club has acted in a decisive manner.
- Club Working Bee – The clean out of the rooms scheduled for Saturday 28th March will go ahead as normal. Volunteers are encouraged to come and assist with moving the items from the club room to the green room.
Unlike previous years, unfortunately no drink or food will be provided as a thank you for helping.
- Senior Presentation Night – The Club has also made the unfortunate decision to cancel the Senior Presentation Night that was scheduled for Friday 3rd Further details about when this will occur will be released in the coming weeks.
It is likely it will be held either at a later date, or potentially as a season launch for 2020/21. These are unprecedented times which will result in unprecedented action.
Further, the NMCA Senior Presentation Night scheduled for Friday 27th March has also been cancelled.
One aspect that hasn’t been well documented is the impact that periods of isolation can have on peoples mental health. Ensure that you are still trying to exercise, go for walks, eat as healthy as you can, and talk and speak to your family and friends as often as possible. Here are some tips on how you can improve and maintain your mental health.

I would like to place on record my sincere thanks to the Holy Trinity Committee for their around the clock work and action on this in what is completely unchartered waters. As a Club we remain determined to look after our members and our community, taking decisive action when it is needed.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to one of the members of the committee.
Kind Regards,
Alex Pettolino
President of Holy Trinity Cricket Club
